disc 22 | 2018

2018 ended with the publication, in December, of “Yesterday is Here”. It is the fruit of a fiery, but short, career by a free improvisation trio: Klaus Ellerhusen Holm on clarinet and alto saxophone, Hernâni Faustino on double bass and me on drums and percussion. In November 2016, because of an invitation that joined the three of us, we played 4 concerts in a row: Salão Brazil (Coimbra), Viriato Teatro Municipal (Viseu), Culturgest (Lisbon) and SMUP (Parede).
Rafael had just turned 5 months old, and I, probably numb from the sleep deprivation resulting from the difficult first months of parenthood, was slight hovering. I remember, though, aided by some photographic records, putting on new skins on the drumset the night before leaving for the four concerts. I also remember having really enjoyed playing with these two comrades, and having been these 4 days “on the road”.
The disc was recorded by José Martins (Salão Brazil) and John Klima (SMUP), and mixed and mastered by me at ScratchBuilt.
