about

disc 35 | 2024

"Morna mansa" is Madalena Palmeirim's second album, released just 3 months ago. I really enjoy playing with this band filled with musicality and dancing bodies: Madalena Palmeirim on vocals, ukulele, melodic, piano, synthesizers, and ukulele, Manuel Dordio on acoustic and electric guitars, David Santos on double bass and electric bass, and myself on drums and percussion.
On some tracks of the album, we were excellently accompanied by John D’Brava on vocals and acoustic guitar, Milanka Vera-Cruz on vocals and claps, and Suse Ribeiro on glockenspiel and steel-drum.
"Morna mansa" was recorded in June 2021, by Pedro Magalhães and myself at OSSO (São Gregório, Caldas da Rainha), except for "É bô", recorded by Suse Ribeiro in Vale de Lobos, and "Mudjer" (vocals and claps by Milanka Vera-Cruz), recorded by Henry Fernandes at CV Sonho, in 2022 and 2023.
The mixing and mastering were done by Suse Ribeiro. The cover collage is by Lídia Reis. With the exception of "Marinha" (lyrics by Margarida Vale de Gato) and "Afortunada" (lyrics by Lídia Jorge), all compositions are by Madalena Palmeirim.
