The album “Lulu auf dem berg”, by Variable Geometry Orchestra — an orchestral project directed by Ernesto Rodrigues for a few years now — is a recording of the concert that this ensemble of 26 musicians gave at the Panteão Nacional on May 31, 2015. It was recorded by John Klima, with the assistance of Bento Palma, in what was one of the first collaborations between me and ScratchBuilt, a recording studio located on Rua da Bempostinha in Lisbon, a space for sound work and creation with which I was associated between 2015 and 2020. It was also mixed and mastered by me.

Playing at the Panteão Nacional is a rare privilege. The scale of the space, and its very long reverberation time, are very inspiring for any musician who is not afraid of Santa Engrácia's bold guardianship. And so we did: Ernesto Rodrigues on viola and conduction, Gerhard Uebelle on violin, Guilherme Rodrigues and Miguel Mira on cellos, João Madeira and Hernâni Faustino on double basses, Adriana Sá on zither, Paulo Curado and Mariana Chagas on flutes, Bruno Parrinha on alto clarinet, Paulo Galão on bass clarinet, Nuno Torres on alto saxophone, Albert Cirera on tenor and soprano saxophones, Sei Miguel on pocket trumpet, Yaw Tembe on trumpet, Fala Mariam and Eduardo Chagas on trombones, Maria Radich on voice and dance, Armando Pereira on accordion, António Chaparreiro and Abdul Moimême on electric guitars, Carlos Santos on analog synthesizer, André Hencleeday on electronic percussion, João Silva on harmonium and electronics, me on drums and Carlos Godinho on percussion.
