Fast forward 7 years: we are in 2012. In the meantime, a lot has happened: I worked quite a bit in documentary cinema (as a sound operator and mixer), was intensely active as a multi-instrumentalist at Ensemble JER (www.youtube.com/channel/UCi-wMXfGVuL6K631u7sTXcA) and started a lasting relationship with Ricardo Jacinto, Nuno Torres and other musician friends, via PARQUE (ricardojacinto.net/Parque) and, nowadays, at OSSO (www.osso.pt).
On March 17, 2012 I was, with 13 other musicians, at Namouche Studios (a reference in the portuguese panorama of recording studios). The album “Monochrome bleu sans titre”, edition 223 of Creative Sources Recordings, was Ensemble IKB's first record. We were recorded by Joaquim Monte, and mixed and mastered by Ricardo Guerreiro, Carlos Santos and Ernesto Rodrigues.
It was my first recording of its kind, in the context of a variable geometry group dedicated to the practice of improvised music. I remember that it was a good day, full of expectations: at the end of the afternoon I had done a concert with PINKDRAFT (we'll be there soon, check the next disc), at night we had this recording, and the next morning I was going to travel, for the first time, to New York.
