about

disc 14 | 2016

“Quasar” is the testimony of a truly symphonic musical encounter, and it was recorded (also in November 2015) by André Silva and Pedro Serrano, who were at the time collaborating with me and John Klima at ScratchBuilt Studios. The location that welcomed us, with an open nave, was Saint George's Church. Mixing and mastering were under my responsibility, with the collaboration of Ernesto Rodrigues.
This grand encounter of the Variable Geometry Orchestra (VGO) counted on the vibrant presence of 46 creative souls: Ernesto Rodrigues conducting and playing the harp, Maria da Rocha and Emanuela Lioy on violins, Maria do Mar on viola, Guilherme Rodrigues and Miguel Mira on cellos, Alvaro Rosso, Adam Pultz Melbye, Hernâni Faustino, Adriano Orrú, and João Madeira on double basses, Miguel Ivo Cruz on the viola da gamba, Emídio Buchinho and Flak on acoustic guitars, Abdul Moimême, Paulo Duarte, António Chaparreiro, and Stephan Sieben on electric guitars, Guilherme Carmelo on baritone guitar, Maria Radich on vocals, Paulo Curado on flute, Paulo Chagas on oboe, Bruno Parrinha on clarinet, Ricardo Ribeiro, Paulo Galão, and Luiz Rocha on bass clarinets, Albert Cirera on soprano and tenor saxophones, Nuno Torres on alto saxophone, Sei Miguel on pocket trumpet, Yaw Tembe and Luís Vicente on trumpets, Fala Mariam on alto trombone, Eduardo Chagas and Fernando Simões on trombones, Carlos Santos and João Silva on synthesizers, Nuno Moita on turntables, Armando Pereira on toy piano, Manuel Guimarães on the church organ, Silvia Corda on the melodica, me on drums, and Monsieur Trinité, Carlos Godinho, Håkon Berre, André Hencleeday, and Pedro Castello Lopes on percussion. We played 31 unforgettable minutes.
